With a BFA in
photography from the California College of Arts and an MFA in Studio Art from
the University of California at Irvine, I come to my work with rigorous
artistic training and technique. Over the decades, I have explored a variety of
artistic mediums and approaches, from video installations to ceramics.
In my current body of
work, I combine earth, sand, straw, lime and pigment in my plasters to create
abstract framed “paintings.” My pieces investigate geometrical forms; I’m
particularly interested in the ways that the golden section and the Fibonacci
sequence are reflected in patterns of nature, from ripples in water to the
spiral structure of galaxies. Through my art, I share the rich variety in the
colors and textures of the earth, as well as the beauty and elegance of nature’s
geometry.
